Ivory: The Aftermath

August 23, 2009

So as a lot of you guys know, we just wrapped up a 4 hours show @ The Ivory Lounge. For those of you that missed it, here’s a pic:

If you’re interested in checking out a few more pics, you can check out the Facebook Page. It’s probably a good idea for you to join the group page anyway for updates, show invites, reminders & info so as Ben Stiller demands -

Anyway – The recap: To establish the story, I’ve been a patron of the Ivory Lounge for over 3 years since Huey bought the place. In that entire time I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve ever seen the place so packed!

Before I go any further, I wanted to thank Mark Montalbano for being so kick ass in hooking up and running our sound all night. Also, Andy Smith for letting us use his PA equipment & lights. You guys are awesome. Now on to the event.

With the place jam-packed we rocked into our first set with “Use Me” by Bill Withers. Throughout the 1st two sets we peppered 12 originals in with a few covers. Just looking out into the crowd, people seemed to really get into our originals like, “Bring On the Abuse,” “Personal”,  & “Eventually” just to name the reactions I noticed from my point of view. Judging by the search entries through the site, it seems you guys are looking for some our songs too. We should have a few for you to get your ears wrapped around before or around October. Until then, let us know what you think – Click on the SONG CHRONOLOGY page and make some comments to let us know which ones you like the most! Even if you don’t remember the title – try to describe it; we’ll see if we can pick it out. Seriously, don’t make us use another Short Circuit reference!

"More Input!!!"

As the night went on, we blasted through a ton of covers. A few of the ones I think went over well were Wish You Were Here, Denial Twist (My favorite cover), both Jimi Hendrix Tunes (Red House, Voodoo Child), and Sympathy for the Devil. Thanks to all the awesome “whoo-whoo’s” during the song from everyone in the crowd. There were more covers that went well, it seemed. But it looked like you guys liked those the most. Once again, we only get better when you guys talk to us so – See Johnny 5! /\/\/\

After 3 sets, 35 songs, & dozens of beers – we all managed to survive to make it to the other side. Our final song finished, Weezer’s “Fall Together” – we packed up all the gear and lived to rock another night. Speaking of – we have 2 shows in September! They’re in the same week! A double whammy of rock! Triple actually (See Rory)! See the previous post or check our SHOW DATES page for more details. We’ll do some additional announcements as the days draw nearer!

Until next time, Zoo Fans, thanks for coming out and supporting us in our cause of filling the world with the best damn rock n’ roll possible.
